Getting a haircut sounds simple. Then you factor in the jam, the parking, the queue and the one Saturday you actually have free. For some people the trip is just annoying. For others, like an elderly parent, a toddler who won't sit still or someone who can't leave the bed, it is a real obstacle.
Trim is a home barber in KL and the wider Klang Valley, sold as a simple subscription. You pick a plan, book a time in the Trim app, and a friendly barber comes to your door. There is no travel fee and nothing added at the door. You pay one flat amount every 30 days, from RM99, and that's it.
So who is it actually for? Probably more people than you would think. Here is a plain guide, one household at a time.
Busy professionals with no time for the barbershop
Trim suits busy professionals because the barber comes to your home at a time you choose, any day between 9am and 9pm, so a haircut no longer eats into your evening or weekend.
If you work long hours in KL, a “quick trim” can easily turn into two hours once you count driving, parking and waiting. With a home barber, the only thing you need to do is be home.
Set it and forget it
You can set a repeating slot in the app, so your cut lands on the same day each cycle without you having to remember. Book at least 12 hours ahead, and you can watch your barber on the way, so you are not stuck waiting by the door.
Keep the barber you like
Found someone who gets your fade right? You can ask for the same barber next time. If they are not free, Trim sends whoever is closest.
Seniors and elderly parents
Trim works well for seniors because a home haircut for the elderly removes the hardest part, which is getting to the shop. Your parent stays in a familiar chair while a barber who has been checked by Trim comes to them.
Many of us have a parent or grandparent who used to visit the same kedai gunting for years, and now finds the trip tiring. Steps, heat, traffic and waiting can make a simple haircut feel like a big outing.
Comfort and dignity at home
A cut at home means no rushing, no crowded waiting area and no long walk from the car park. Everything happens in your own space, at a pace that suits them.
You can manage it for them
If you are the adult child arranging things, you can hold the account and add your parent to a Family plan. The visit needs someone aged 18 or over at home to let the barber in. If your parent has a scalp or skin condition, recent surgery or a sensitivity to products, tell Trim or the barber before the cut starts. Barbers cut hair. They do not give medical advice.
Kids' haircuts at home
A kids' haircut at home is easier because children stay calm in a familiar place, there is no queue to wait in, and a parent stays close by for the whole visit.
Anyone who has taken a restless four-year-old to a busy barbershop knows how it goes. At home, they can sit on their usual chair, watch something they like and have their snack right there.
Safety comes first
Trim has a clear safeguarding rule. A parent, guardian or other responsible adult aged 18 or over must be at home for the entire visit when anyone under 18 is being cut. A barber will not cut a child who is alone. The child also needs to be named on your plan.
Kids can join the family visit
Children under 12 can be added to a Family plan for RM59 each, so they get their cut in the same visit as everyone else.
Bedridden, disabled or mobility-limited people, and their caregivers
Trim can help people who are bedridden, disabled or have limited mobility, because the barber comes to them, and caregivers no longer have to arrange transport just for a haircut.
For someone recovering from surgery, living with a disability or using a wheelchair, a trip to the barber can mean help getting in and out of the car, a ramp that may or may not exist and a long wait. For caregivers, it adds yet another job to an already full week.
Tell us about the setup first
A home haircut needs a workable space: a chair and a clear area, reasonable lighting, a power socket within reach and access to water. Every home and every person is different, so if you are unsure whether your space or your loved one's position will work, ask Trim before you book. You will get an honest answer.
Share health details safely
Let Trim know in advance about anything that affects whether cutting is safe, such as open wounds, recent surgery or skin conditions. Trim asks for your consent before saving a health note and uses it only to keep the visit safe. You can also just tell the barber in person if you prefer.
New parents
For new parents, a home barber means you can get a proper haircut without leaving the baby or packing the whole nursery into the car.
The first months with a newborn leave very little room for yourself. With Trim, the barber comes to you during nap time or after the baby is settled, and you are still home if you are needed.
Families who want several cuts in one visit
Trim's Family plan is built for households who want everyone cut in the same visit: one barber, one trip, one bill every 30 days.
Instead of three separate trips for dad, grandad and the kids, everyone on the plan is cut in the same stop. You add each person to the plan, and each gets one cut per cycle. It is the simplest way to get the whole house looking sharp before Raya, Deepavali, Chinese New Year or a family wedding.
People who work from home
If you work from home, Trim lets you fit a haircut into a lunch break or between calls, with no commute and no lost afternoon.
You are already home, so the barber coming to you just makes sense. Book a slot that suits your calendar, get your cut, let the barber sweep up, and go back to your desk.
Who Trim may not suit yet
We would rather you know up front. Trim is probably not the right fit if:
- You need a cut in the next few hours. Visits are booked at least 12 hours ahead.
- You live outside the launch areas. You can still join the waitlist and we will text you when we reach you.
- You enjoy the buzz of a barbershop. That is a good reason to keep going, and we get it.
How Trim keeps every visit safe
Safety matters for everyone in the home, and for the barber too.
- Checked, trained barbers. Barbers are checked and onboarded by Trim, and complete Trim's safety training before they can take any job.
- Check-in and check-out. Barbers check in and out of every visit in the app, and Trim's team can see live jobs.
- Panic button for barbers. If a barber ever feels unsafe, they can tap Panic, which shares their live location with Trim.
- One tap to end a visit. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, you can end the visit with one tap in the app. The cut goes back on your plan, and someone at Trim reviews what happened. In an emergency, call 999 first.

Where Trim is launching
Trim is opening first in a handful of Klang Valley areas: Ampang, Bangsar, Cheras, Damansara, Mont Kiara and Petaling Jaya. Live somewhere else? You can still join the waitlist and pick your area, and Trim will send you one text the day it opens near you. No newsletters, nothing else.
Plans and prices
One fresh cut every 30 days for one person.
One barber, one visit, the whole household on one bill.
Every plan is billed every 30 days. You can pause, change or cancel in the app whenever you like. Cuts do not carry over to the next cycle, and if you cancel a visit at least 2 hours ahead, the cut stays on your plan. What the plan shows is what you pay. Read how your plan works for the details.
